These domain names can be personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. At the beginning, only 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you planned to secure john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already purchased 3rd-level names remained operational.

You will have the opportunity to update the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you get its EPP transfer authorization code from the present registrar firm and we will renew it once the transfer has been done. There are no special requirements on who can reserve a dot NAME domain, but in order to maintain the idea behind its creation alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration could be challenged.
